The 2023 U.S. Banking Crisis is Already Multiple Magnitudes Larger than that of 2008.  Credit Suisse HQ, Zurich Switzerland Hypothesis: The U.S. Federal Reserve and U.S. Government has become extremely adept at obscuring facts from Americans and the World at Large when it comes to financial crisis handling.
On March 31, 2016 the following headline appeared in Reuters: U.S. repo rates jump to highest level since 2008 at quarter-end. In the article, the following was noted:
The interest rate on the $5 trillion repurchase agreement market jumped to 0.85 percent late on Thursday, nearly double the level at Wednesday’s close USONRP=GCMN, according to data from interdealer broker ICAP. In the repo market, Wall Street dealers borrow from money market funds and other investors and pledge their Treasuries and other securities they own as collateral. Around the time before and shortly after collapse of Lehman Brothers in September 2008, this short-term lending cost spiked above 2 percent, ICAP data showed.
Last Week, On March 22, 2023 in an article on the New York Federal Reserve’s website titled: FAQs: Reverse Repurchase Agreement Operations, the following was noted:
Thus, WE HAVE A PROBLEM…AND A VERY LARGE ONE AT THAT!

The problem the astute observer will quickly ascertain is that the Fed, ” in the name of transparency” is two years behind on posting its data…most likely intentionally to obscure the depth of the current problem.

Of course upward pressure goes hand in hand with the rise in interest rates, however, it is not clear from the data since the data is incomplete as to how balanced the repo rate is compared to the amount of borrowing going on.
A prime example (pardon the pun) of how to use this data can be seen in the .pdf file from 2021 where it will be noted that Credit Suisse, the storied Swiss Bank that recently failed, was coming to the Fed discount window on a regular basis. Credit Suisse was borrowing in the billions overnight on a regular basis. No telling how high that figure rose throughout 2022 and 2023.
